Below:
Various
photographs of myself at various commands during my Navy years. Most of
the photographs are pre-1970 except for the one in the Radio Shack and
leaning on the 50 Cal. The photos are numbered from left to right and explanations are
numbered below the pics. (Just click on the photo to see a larger picture)
From left to right: 1. Me on the fantail
of the USS Moctobi in 1968 somewhere off Pearl Harbor. 2. Onboard the
Moctobi: Myself and BM2 Howard Gaskill, my boss for several months until I
got into the Radio Shack. 3. Me in the (unclassified) receiver and patch
panel area of the Radio Shack onboard the USS Molala. This was taken underway but I don't know where.
4. Me on the fantail of the USS Moctobi in 1968. 5. Me and PO1 Caulder on the Moctobi.. I think he
was an Engineman 1st Class. We were all buddies on small ships like the ATF. There were only about
75 of us. 6. Me in 1972 just after I made 2nd. This was on a Westpac cruise off the
coast of Vung Tau, South Vietnam. I'm not exactly sure why I look so
seedy.
From left to right: 6. My
Boot Camp photograph. 7. Me sewing on my 3rd class crow. 8. Me with Richard Deacon, one of the stars of the
Dick Van Dyke show. I had gotten hurt and was recovering from surgery at
Tripler Army Hospital on Oahu in Hawaii. 9. Me in Boot Camp. I was a
"Recruit" Petty Officer, as you can see by the tiny chevron
(crow) on my arm. The symbol is a square knot which stood for RECRUIT. I
got to wear the rank because I was a squad leader. 10. On the fantail of
the USS Moctobi in Pearl Harbor in 1968. I was only a Seaman Apprentice in
this photograph.

Left to Right: Lentz,
Mullins, Baughman and Myself. (Circa 1970 ?) Sent in by Tom Burns.
