After more than three years, the search
for a photo and news of the Ex-USS Molala has come to a successful
conclusion. The USS Molala was decommissioned and sold to the Mexican Navy
and began her service on August 01, 1978. Her name is the KUKULKAN (A-52)
and before that she was called the OTOMI (A-17). The above photograph
shows the KUKULKAN (click on photo for full screen view). It appears that
the Mexican Navy has taken good care of the ship. I do not know the age of
this photo but the condition of the original would place it at about 5 to
10 years old.
Below are all the documents that were
sent with the photograph. I've not yet translated the documents but as
soon as this is done, I will insert a link to the translation. It's not
too difficult to decipher (for content) but I'd like to be as exact as
possible before I post the translation.
